Orientation:

  • What is Tell a Story program?

    It is one to one virtual volunteering program for 15 days, volunteer needs to complete 13 sessions by calling student 30 mins every day.

  • What is the duration of Tell a Story program?

    It is 15 days program where volunteer needs to complete 13 sessions. Each session is for 30 mins. The program starts on 17th May 2021 and ends by 31st May 2021.

  • Is it mandatory to attend orientation to be part of Tell a Story program?

    Yes, it is mandatory to attend orientation to be a part of Tell a Story program.

  • I have already attended the orientation of 'Tell a Story' in the past. Is it still mandatory to attend the orientation again?

    Not required to attend the orientation if you have volunteered for this initiative in the past 1 year.

  • I cannot attend orientation / I missed Orientation. Can you share the recording?

    Enough volunteers attended the orientation:

    Since the sufficient number of volunteers required for this initiative attended this orientation and we could not accommodate anyone else now. Hence, we have decided not to share the orientation recording for this initiative as high priority is always given to volunteers who attend the orientation.

    In case, if any volunteers drop out and we are in need of volunteers, we will email you and take your help.

    We request you to stay in touch and volunteer for our future initiatives. Our future initiatives will be first announced on our social media pages - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin & Youtube

    Not enough volunteers attended the orientation:

    Answer-1 (Before the orientation):

    Orientation recording will be shared with volunteers within 24 hours after the completion of orientation only if not enough volunteers attend the orientation.

    If enough volunteers attend the orientation, then we will not be sharing the recording and the volunteer cannot be part of this program.

    Hence, we request you to try attending the orientation if possible to give yourself more chances to be part of this program.

Hand Book / Beneficiary Details:

  • When will I receive handbook and student details?

    (Check orientation status of the volunteer before sending the below reply)

    The details will be emailed to you before May 16, 4pm. The mail will be from volunteer@teameverest.ngo. Please make sure you check your spam and promotional folder as well. Happy Volunteering!

  • What does the hand book contain?

    The handbook will have a curriculum for your day-to-day sessions. Each session is broken down into activities so that you can easily prepare it before the session and teach to the student over the call.

Event Related Queries:

  • Is it mandatory to tell a story which is in handbook or can I share some other story?

    It is mandatory to tell the story in the handbook. Once you complete it and other activities in the handbook, if you have time, you can tell your own story to the kid. Make sure the story is age-appropriate and does not involve any religion, violence, and controversial topics.

  • My student has not completed homework, can I continue the session?

    Yes, you can continue the session but ask the student to work on their homework everyday.

  • Will student receive a handbook what does it contain?

    No, students will not receive any handbook. Only a volunteer receives a handbook for 'Tell a Story' program.

  • Parents are not available at home at the scheduled session time. How to reach the student?

    Volunteer and parents can fix up an alternate time mutually convenient for each other and complete sessions for the student.

  • Parents do not recognise Team Everest and avoids student to attend session?

    We orient the parent and student before the session starts. This has happened despite it. We will check with the student again and get back to you soon.

  • How many session does Tell a Story program has?

    Volunteers needs to complete 13 sessions in 15days.

  • Is it mandatory to speak Tamil or Kannada or Marathi to volunteer for this program?

    Yes, it is mandatory to speak Tamil or Kannada or Marathi to be part of this program.

    This is because students will speak only either of these languages and hence this requirement.

  • Should volunteer follow the story order given in the handbook?

    Yes, we recommend to follow the story order given in the handbook.

  • When will volunteer schedule next day session?

    At the end of the session, volunteer and student will schedule next day session time.

Attendance:

  • Attendance link is not working?

    Please try in a different browser or a different device.

    If it is not working, kindly share a screenshot of the same to guide you in marking attendance.

  • How many days have I(volunteer) marked attendance?

    Agent will check the attendance report from creator link and share the details to Volunteer.

    We checked the attendance you have marked from backend. We noticed that you have completed upto Session No <>. Hope this helps. Thank you for volunteering.

  • Should I mark attendance if session is not completed?

    Yes, you should mark attendance even if the session did not happen (You are busy or the student did not pick the call). Attendance should be marked as 'Not completed' in such cases.

    Except for Sundays, attendance is required for all the days till you complete the program. Attendance needs to be marked on Sundays if you do the session.

  • How to mark attendance?

    You can mark the attendance for this program in https://www.teameverest.ngo/virtualvolunteering/tellastory/volunteerattendance

    You need OTP to mark your attendance. OTP is shared in the emails that we sent to you. Please check your inbox including your spam and promotional folder. The email is from volunteer@teameverest.ngo

  • Marking attendance is mandatory?

    Yes, marking attendance is mandatory as it helps Team Everest to know whether the sessions happened or not. It is the only way for us to track what is happening.

    Please note that you should mark attendance even if the session did not happen (You are busy or the student did not pick the call). Attendance should be marked as 'Not completed' in such cases.

    Except for Sundays, attendance is required for all the days till you complete the program. Attendance needs to be marked on Sundays if you do the session.

Volunteer Specific Query:

  • Will Volunteer receive feedback from students for this program?

    Many students do not have smartphones and many do not know how to mark attendance. So, we request the volunteers to get feedback directly from the student during the call.

  • Volunteer drops out due to personal reason?

    Sorry to know that you are dropping out. We will try to replace a new volunteer for the student. Stay in touch and keep volunteering!

  • Volunteer needs temporary break?

    If the total program can be completed within 10 days from the end date of the program, we can approve the temporary break. If not, we need to replace the volunteer.

    Ask the volunteer: Can you complete all the sessions before <Extension Date>?

    Volunteer can complete before extension date:

    Thank you for confirming. Kindly inform your student about your nonavailability for few days and clearly inform when you will be calling them.

    Please plan to complete the sessions before <Extension Date>. Happy Volunteering!

    Volunteer cannot complete before extension date:

    Sorry, this session needs to be completed before the deadline and we understand your non availability.

    For this initiative, we will try to replace a new volunteer for the student so that the student can complete the sessions on time.

    So, we will exclude you from this program for now. Thank you for your understanding.

  • Student drops out due to personal / health reason?

    We apologize for the inconvenience caused, we will check if any student is available and share the details with you.

  • My student is not picking call how to reach him?

    Sorry to know that. We will try reaching out to the student and will keep you posted. It might take 1 to 3 days to get back to you on this.

    Please reach us back if you do not hear from us within 3 days.

    <Volunteer tried once or no clarity on number of tries>

    Sorry to know that. We request you to try reaching the student for 2 days at least. Each day try calling them 3 times at least.

    If you still do not get any response from them, please let us know so that we will check with the student and will keep you posted.
